NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course

Cost: $150

Description: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family.

Details: An 8 hour course. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety, responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense and continued opportunities for skill development.  Participants receive a student packet and completion certificate.

      Participants must be at least 21 years of age, have experience in handgun shooting and knowledge of safe gun handling skills.  
 
       Required equipment:
  1. Eye and ear protection
  2. 200 rounds ammunition
  3. Handgun in good working order
  4. 2 magazines or 2 speedloaders

NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside The Home Course

Cost: $230

 

Description: Teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude for avoiding dangerous confrontations and the safe, effective, responsible use of a concealed handgun for self-defense.
 
Details:  This course is two days. Day one teaches the aptitude that must be achieved in order to safely use a firearm effectively for conceal carry and includes live fire training. Day two is range training applying dynamic skills.  Participants receive a student packet and completion certificate.
  
        Students will attend this course using a strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to presentation from concealment and shooting positions, this course introduces techniques needed to prevail in certain critical situations. 
       
        Participants must be at least 21 years of age, possess defensive pistol skills, understand the basic legal concepts relevant to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Prospective participants can demonstrate the requisite by passing the pre-course evaluation.

  2. Holster or holster purse
  3. 300 rounds ammunition
  4. Conceal carry garment
  5. Handgun in good working order 
  6. 2 magazines or 2 speedloaders
  7. Magazine or speedloader pouch/holster
